This little guy was done as an Add-a-Foal (back before they were officially named) for Bit o’ Luck. He was one of my earlier customs and boy does it show. Sigh.

I suppose everyone is a little embarrassed of their own learning curves, but I always wince when I see the shading on Lucky’s legs. My camera was also a lot kinder to the paintjob than the customer’s camera (she took the last three shots)… which makes me wonder how bad the rest of my early customs really were.

But in the end, I wasn’t painting to please myself, I was painting to please the customer and she was happy with the end result. As if often the case, I underestimated what is acceptable at the price point I was painting—something I need to work on when I start up the business again in 2012!
