Poptop may have beat this little guy through the finish gate, but Kings is the first Third Generation mold that I’ve finished to date (as the Druid Horse is still a WiP). Continue reading

Gallery: Other
Medium: Acrylics
Status: Painted 200? and Sold 200?

While I’m not sure if this little guy’s coat pattern could actually appear in nature, it was a lot of fun to paint! He was order as a pair with Cirrus (another chestnut overo scratching foal) and the two were named after cloud formations. Continue reading

This little guy (gal?) was painted on a lazy summer day, whilst chilling and watching kids playing in the pool at our apartment complex (hence the name). Continue reading

Make: Breyer
Scale: Stablemate
Mold: Thoroughbred (G2)
Color: Bay Splash Overo
Gallery: Overo
Medium: Acrylics
Status: Painted 200? and Sold 200?

Sakes Alive was my first attempt at adding mapping to a pinto pattern. It didn’t come out quite as well as I had hoped, but this was still pretty early in my learning curve, so it’s not horrible for a first try. Continue reading

Gallery: Overo
Medium: Acrylics
Status: Painted 200? and Sold 200?

This little guy painted was part of a custom order (paired up with Cumulus, a flaxen chestnut sabino overo foal). The cloud motive fit nicely with the paint patterns… now I’m tempted to break out my old Earth Science textbook and do it again! Continue reading

Color: Palomino Splash Overo
Gallery: Overo
Medium: Acrylics
Status: Painted in 200? and Sold 200?

I’m actually pretty pleased with this little Add-a-Foal. While I’d probably tone down the bright white in the mane and tail if I painted her again, overall the model came out pretty darned close to what I had in my head. Continue reading

Medium: Acrylics and Pastels
Status: Painted in 200? and Sold 200?

This little guy was a custom order, but I can’t remember if he was based of a real horse or not. Most of the orders were, but I can’t find any reference photos, so I’m not sure. Continue reading

Status: Painted in 200? and Sold 200?

This fella was a custom order based on a horse from a poster provided by the customer. He doesn’t have a lot of shading in the coat, simply because the horses in the photo didn’t and I was trying to match it as close as I could. Continue reading

Color: Flaxen Chestnut Splash Overo
Gallery: Overo
Medium: Acrylics
Status: Painted 200? and Home Herd

This little guy was the third micro I ever painted, and you can tell! Thankfully this little guy is still on my shelf, so he’s on the list to go back under the brush for an update as soon as my skills are back up to par. Continue reading

Avast! This little gal is out to take over the field and teach those colts to walk the plank!

This little gal was the first of this mold that I started fiddling around with bases for. The mold is very unstable and tend to fall over if you look at them sideways, so I had been looking for ways to make them a little less domino prone. Continue reading

Color: Palomino Splash Overo
Gallery: Overo
Medium: Acrylics
Status: Painted in 200? and Sold 200?

I painted this guy after realizing that I was pretty short on palomino’s in my gallery. I love the flare of the Arabian mold and the color seemed like it would be a perfect match!

Unfortunately, he didn’t come out quite like I had him in my head– which is still a common theme for my customs. I know as I work on my painting skills I’ll get better, but it’s always frustrating to start with one vision and end with another. Continue reading

I got this little guy in a body lot with no idea who painted him to start with. He was a flat black and white paint job, but his pattern didn’t quite follow the frame overo rules. Continue reading

This little gal was one of my earlier customs, painted one bored summer afternoon while watching kids playing in the apartment complex’s pool. She was sold as a pair on eBay with the splash overo foal Slip ‘n Slide, since I was feeling theme-ish that week. Continue reading

This is the second half of a custom order, the unnamed rearing arabian was done in a matching coat pattern. Not much to say about this little one I didn’t already say on the adult, although I wasn’t as happy with the paint pattern on this one. Continue reading

Medium: Pastels and Acrylics
Status: Painted in 200? and Sold 200?

Told you I was going to do a horse in pastels when I got a round tuit! *grin*

Although, to be fair, only the base coat is in pastels. So he’s a mostly-pastel horse with acrylic markings and detailing. I’ll have to have another go at a full pastel model a bit later on. (I have some ideas for blocking out the white areas that I’m looking forward to trying!) Continue reading

This is a portrait horse that was painted for Emily Woodward (yay for notes!) and that I was actually rather proud of the way it turned out.

I did get better at the portrait models as I went along, but I was always petrified that I was going to mess them up. Doing a normal custom for someone is easy, a bay is a bay is a bay… but when it’s your bay, then it’s Bay with capital B. Continue reading

What did I do before pastels? No, seriously… this is one of the later horses, as you can tell by the photos, and one of my favorites. Continue reading
