This little guy was a custom order (Add-a-Foal?) and is owned by RayovLight Creations. He can be seen on their website along with a few other G2 SB’s that might look familiar. *grin* Continue reading

This little gal was one of my earlier customs than I ended up selling later on down the road. For a while I was building my own little show string, but quickly discovered that I had more fun hosting shows (Hampton Roads Classic) than I did participating in them. Continue reading

Status: Painted 200? and Sold 200?

This little gal’s name means ‘Little Sun’ in Italian (at least per Bablefish) and was named to thematically match her mother Dell’ Arcobaleno (Of the Rainbow). She was painted and sold as a pair with Dell, although her paint pattern is a little more realistic then her mom’s. Continue reading

This little guy was painted as a match to Irish Espresso, hence the suitably puny name. Espresso was part of my photo show string for a bit and I don’t remember if I painted this little guy for the fun of it or as an Add-a-Foal request. Continue reading

This little gal was a custom I bought off eBay in a body lot that I planned on ‘updating’ and reselling. I’m not sure who the original artist was, but I’m hoping I can find my notes and see if there was a signature on her anywhere. Continue reading

Nothing like a little glossy attitude to brighten up a shelf!

This little gal was done around Halloween, hence the name, and was one of the few foals that I sold individually.

Foals rarely sold for as much as adults and the time and material costs were high enough that it wasn’t effective to sell them individually. But when I listed her at the adult price, she was snapped up the first time out on eBay.

This little gal is the first time I attempted a non-horse pattern that was based on another animal, as I remember. She came from staring at the mold trying to pick a color to paint her… and realizing she looked a lot like my roommate’s dog. Continue reading

Color: Flaxen Chestnut

Medium: Acrylics
Status: Painted 200? and Sold 200?

I’ve always loved the bratty look of the G1 Arabian Mare, so much personality in such a little package!

She started out as an original finish bay, but I finished her off as a nice flaxen chestnut. This was back when I was still learning how to shade, so there isn’t as much contrast within the body color as I’d like, but she came out pretty well. Continue reading

Yet another unnamed foal with no records to say where it was from or who it was for… I seem to be rather good at doing that. *sigh*

The resculpting was limited to adding feathering to the legs and adding a bit to the face to pull him out of the more generic ‘I am a foal’ look. Continue reading

This little gal is a shaded turquoise, with a very minimal sabino pattern. I do like the old molds, but the ears are a pain an a half to carve out if you don’t have any epoxy to tweak them with.

This was one of the more recent horses, so the cameras caught errors that I couldn’t see when I was painting them. I’m itching to go back and correct the flaws now… arg. Continue reading

This little gal was a favor for a friend and was in need of a little TLC when I got her. I think she turned out pretty well considering that I hadn’t done a lot of sculpting at the time. Plus I was finally cresting the learning curve with basic paint jobs, so that side of the equation came out well. Continue reading

I think this little gal was a custom ordered portrait horse that I think came in on the same order with Sierra. Someday I will find the notes and all these little mysteries will be cleared up… but for now I’ll just have to guess. Continue reading

Color: Rainbow Faux-Tobiano
Medium: Acrylics
Status: Painted 200? and Sold 200?

As you can see from the fancy background, Dell was one of my photoshow string back when I first got into the hobby. I know she was one of the first horses I painted, although I’m still trying to track down the history for these little guys. She was the second rainbow horse, the first one being the G2 Thoroughbred where I learned that yellow and green are mortal enemies. I deftly sidestepped that problem here by bypassing the greens and blues altogether.

This little lady was my first shot at painting this older mold. You’d think by the time I got to her that I would have done one already… but I always feel odd customizing the older molds. There’s something sort of wasteful about customizing things you can’t replace. At least she was body quality, so I didn’t feel as guilty! Continue reading

Medium: Acrylics
Status: Painted 200? and Sold 200?

This little guy was a more recent paint job and one I did just for fun. I’m really rather fond of the old standing foal mold, although Breyer has since come out with several new Stablemate litte’uns.

From what I remember, I painted this guy as a test piece for the technique used on later appaloosas. I think this works a bit better with the added pastel shading I did on the adults (I’ll add the links to the other horses one I post them), but it looks nice as is on the smaller mold. Definitely a fun little pattern! Continue reading
