Color: Bay
Gallery: Bay
Medium: Acrylics and Pastels
Status: Painted 200? and Sold 200?

This little guy was a basic custom order along with the Add-a-Foal, Baby Grand. Not a whole lot else to be said for this little guy, since he’s a very simple bay. Always nice to paint something sans-chrome now and again! Continue reading

Piano Adagio

Make: Breyer
Scale: Stablemate
Mold: Andalusian (G2)
Color: Dark Bay
Gallery: Bay
Medium: Acrylics
Status: Painted 200? and Sold 200?

Most of my Andalusian customs have a musical bent and this little guy is no different. Piano means ‘softly’ and Adagio means ‘at ease’ so this fella is dancing to a soft, slow melody. Continue reading

Ahh, Forte—I do regret selling you some days (alas). This little guy was the first Andalusian I painted and was part of my photo show string for quite a while. I think he was also part of my live show string, for the one outing I did to Midwest Minis Live, but I’ll have to track down my notes. Continue reading

Color: Bay Dun

I was tempted to keep the musical theme going, but instead I went with ‘names not in English’ instead. (Although I did consider Rinforte).

Lentamente Para means “Slowly it Stops” in Spanish, which seemed appropriate considering the breed history and the dressage movement. Continue reading

Piano Morendo

Mold: Andalusian (G2)
Color: Liver Chestnut
Gallery: Chestnut
Medium: Acrylics and Pastels
Status: Painted 200? and Sold 200?

Named in the musical theme of my Andalusian customs, Piano means ‘softly’ and Morendo means ‘gradually dying away.’ Which seemed to fit the soft and slow beats of the Piaffe that the mold is performing. Continue reading

As you can tell from the photos this little guy was one of my earlier customs, although I’m not quite sure where in the timeline he falls (still working my way through the notes). Continue reading

Color: Gray Tobiano
Gallery: Tobiano
Medium: Acrylics
Status: Painted 200? and Sold 200?

This little guy was a custom order and one of the few gray horses that I have painted. His name comes from the fact that I was in the middle of painting him when I had an emergency trip to Arizona for a week. The customer was very understanding about the delay and I decided to name him in honor of the unexpected tangent. Continue reading

I’m really not sure how to explain this guy. … Is it possible to use ‘you had to be there’ in regards to customizing?

My friend Jess painted his basecoat, but decided she didn’t like the color combination. I meant to strip him… really I did. But I was watching Survivor, and that got me thinking about the real Outback, which led to thoughts concerning the nifty paintings they have hanging in the restaurants. … And when I looked up from my meandering thoughts, this guy was done!
