Make: Breyer
Scale: Stablemate
Mold: Arabian (G2)
Color: Golden Palomino
Gallery: Dilutes
Medium: Acrylics and Pastels
Status: Painted 200? and Sold 200?

This handsome fella was a custom order along with Magpie’s Six… and that’s as much information as I have on him so far. While his mane is slightly brighter than I’d like now, I’m going to pretended it was just washed really well for a show. Continue reading

Status: Painted 200? and Sold 200?

This little guy is a clear example of where ‘good intentions’ met ‘blatant procrastination’.

I was working on a realistic tiger colored Arabian and Standing Foal and was trying to learn how to effectively paint the striping patterns. I figured it would be easiest to do on a fantasy mold, so Shadowcat was born. Continue reading

This handsome fella has a flat black base, red eyes and nostrils, a white skill pattern on each flank, a white bat on his forehead, and a translucent pearlescent layer under a high gloss finish. Continue reading

Status: Painted 200? and Sold 200?

In theory this little guy could exist, but there’s a high probability that he’s closer to the fantasy side of the house (like Corporeal Twist). With two blue eyes, one dark leg, and the requisite cat-tracks—he’s ready to light up a shelf and I’m hoping he’s still dancing the night away. Continue reading

Wish was yet another stab at a fantasy night sky (see Zodiac’s Curse and D’Notte). He’s got a deep blue coat with a scattering of small silver stars and solid silver eyes. Continue reading

This little guy was one really random custom. He has a nice solid gold base, with no shadings, and black pseudo-tiger stripes and vaguely Egyptian facial markings. I’d be tempted to call him a doodle horse, there just aren’t enough doodles! Continue reading

Every so often my Muses grab a’hold of a model and run with it. The result is normally a bit of random-shiny that I couldn’t have planned out if I tried.

This little guy was such an event– I started with the black basecoat and no real plan other than getting him finished off whilst watching TV. (Hence the ‘Whimsy’) Continue reading

This was half of a custom order and my first attempt at painting an Amber Champagne. (The unnamed scratching foal was done in the same coat color). Continue reading

Medium: Acrylics
Status: Painted in 200? and Sold 200?

I painted this guy after realizing that I was pretty short on palomino’s in my gallery. I love the flare of the Arabian mold and the color seemed like it would be a perfect match!

Unfortunately, he didn’t come out quite like I had him in my head– which is still a common theme for my customs. I know as I work on my painting skills I’ll get better, but it’s always frustrating to start with one vision and end with another. Continue reading

This little guy was going to be my first horse done in pastels, a nice dun splash overo… and them my dog sneezed.

So I’m not sure if such a thing as an overo appaloosa exists in nature, but it sure as heck exists in model horse-dom! Amusingly he fared rather well at the small home-show I took him too, so regardless of his reality he’s a nice bit of eye candy. Continue reading

This little guy was a lot of fun to paint!

As I remember he was a follow-up horse to Blue Eyed Piper, since Blue’s appy pattern didn’t turn out as realistic as I would have like. The same technique on a fantasy horse looks lovely, and I was able to play around more with the layers of white and pastels once reality was out the window. (Besides, I was itching to break into the new silly colored chalk pastels!) Continue reading

Oddly enough, this model was inspired by a custom auto painting show on TV! After watching the gentleman (who’s name I have forgotten) paint layer after layer of color to get this amazing ‘true fire’ I decided to give it a try with appaloosas. Which made prefect sense at the time. *grin* Continue reading
