This little guy beat out Suicide Kings by a nose to be my first finished custom for 2012! Not a bad way to start the year off, even if I’m running a little behind schedule… (doh!) Continue reading

Ladybug

Make: Breyer
Scale: Stablemate
Mold: Shetland Pony (G2)
Color: Red and Black Ladybug
Gallery: Darwin
Medium: Acrylics
Status: Painted 200? and Sold 200?

Bringing a new high to truth in advertising, this little guy is just what he says on the tin. Based on the Coccinella septempunctata seven-spot pattern, Ladybug is leaning more towards ‘artistic license’ rather than ‘realistic’… but you have to admit he’s cute! Continue reading

Scale: Stablemate
Mold: Shetland Pony (G2)
Color: Copper-gold Bay and Silver Tobiano
Gallery: Tobiano
Medium: Acrylics
Status: Painted 200? and Sold 200?

This little guy turned out every little bit as awesome as I hoped he would when I started! Bling was painted during my metallics phase and was one of several tobanios, however he was the only one done in all metallics. Continue reading

Gallery: Doodle Ponies
Medium: Unknown Acrylics, Silver Sharpie, FolkArt 411 Purple, 654 Metallic Amethyst, Liquitex Dioxazine Purple, Mars Black, Liquitex Gloss Varnish
Status: Painted May 2011 and For Sale

Found this little gal hiding in the corner while I was sorting out the ‘almost done’ bodies from the body box. I really should have been more careful when I packed these guys away, but hindsight is always 20/20. She needed a little touching up and some new gloss, but otherwise was as done as doodle-ponies get! Continue reading

Color: Flaxen Golden Chestnut
Gallery: Chestnut
Medium: Acrylics and Pastels
Status: Painted 200? and Sold 200?

This little guy is part of a trio that I painted to round out the colors I had painted the Pony mold in. For the most part I tended to pick fantasy colors for this little guy, so this guy, Gumi Bear, and Nachtmaus were meant to bring a little reality back to the mold. Continue reading

Color: Bay Few Spot Appaloosa
Gallery: Appaloosa
Medium: Acrylics and Pastels
Status: Painted 200? and Sold 200?

This little fellow is the portrait horse that I was most happy with in terms of reality = model. He was one of the last portrait horses I did and he took me nigh on forever to finish! (Yet another reason I stopped taking portrait orders.) Continue reading

Scale: Stablemate
Mold: Shetland Pony (G2)
Color: Dark (Black) Bay
Gallery: Bay
Medium: Acrylics and Pastels
Status: Painted 200? and Sold 200?

This little guy is named in German (because Bablefish is my friend) and in theory translates into ‘Night Mouse.’ I had a bad habit of misspelling it as Natchmaus, so who the heck knows what he’s called at this point. Most likely his new owner renamed him something less whimsical anyway. (Woe) Continue reading

Color: Black and Fire
Gallery: Other Color
Medium: Acrylics
Status: Painted 200? and Sold 200?

I know ‘fire’ isn’t really a color, but it sounds better than Yellow and orange!

This is one of the older models, as you can tell my my unimpressive blending job and the fact I did scans as well as photos (the old camera wasn’t good a micro photos). It’s a little sad that so many of the first model horses that I painted have such a bad visual record left behind. I’m almost tempted to post on the model horse forums and see if any of them are still out there. *wistful sigh* Continue reading

Color: Bay Tobiano
Gallery: Tobiano
Medium: Acrylics and Pastels
Status: Painted 2005 and Sold Oct 2005

While I remember painting this guy in the midst of a ‘must paint ponies!’ tangent, I don’t remember much about him other than that. He was painted towards the end of my run as a small business and thus benefits from good photos and pastel shadings. Continue reading
